I am so blessed. I may not realize it everyday, but, almost everyday. I have a house, with a bed for everyone. We have carpet. We eat our meals on plates. We have indoor plumbing. We have two cars. Our freezers are stocked full. My four children are health and thriving. I could go on and on. I do however realize that not everyone is so lucky. Our country is in what some call a modern depression. The jobless rate, the bankruptcy rate, home foreclosures, etc, etc. That’s just our country. The thought of third world countries problems is enough to send me back to bed.
It feels so good to help out. To give without receiving.
I’m joining in on a movement called Giving is Awesome!
A group of photographers from all over the United States (led by Kristen Kalp of Essential Imagery), have been challenged to offer an amazing gift. There couldn’t be a better time than the season of giving to join in.
For many people, this is an exciting time of year–the hustle and bustle, the shopping and gift giving, holiday parties, and spending time with loved ones. For some, it’s a struggle and a painful reminder of hard times.
You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.
I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography. I’ll be giving away a complimentary session and the digital files. All I need is a deserving person who would cherish captured memories of their family, pet, and/or friends. You have the opportunity to make this a special Christmas gift for a special person, and as a bonus, if you send in the nominee I select, you’ll also receive a complimentary photography session and a $100 print credit.
The Rules:
You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. A family that has truly been hit with hardship.
The nominee must reside in Kansas or Missouri. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing. Please include your email and or phone with your nomination as well as the best way to get in contact with your nominee. All nominations must be received by midnight, December 31st, and the gift recipient will be announced on the blog on New Years Day.

I can’t wait to read all of your entries! Open your heart to someone this holiday season – and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine and give back.
